1) What is the issue?
The issue is that HIV is spreading rapidly in Malaysia. The main cause is because of the drug users and the infected needles not being clean. They said that if this is not solved, the whole population of Malaysia might be wiped out because of this.
2) Who is involved?
The government of Malaysia, the drug users, the people of Malaysia, and the health officials in Malaysia.
3) Who is affected and how?
The government is affected because the government is supposed to help the people of Malaysia. They are taking this matter seriously, and are providing drugs that do not carry viruses in the clinic for woman and children. Also, it is predicted that if the government does not take this issue seriously, there could be 300,000 cases of HIV infection in 2015. The people of Malaysia are definatly affected as well, as they might be the next victims of HIV, one of their family members has HIV, or they have HIV themselves. The health officers are also affected as they have to take care of those who have HIV. Finially, the whole world MIGHT get affected, because it shows how fast HIV is spreading to Malaysia, so it might spread even faster in other countries.
4) What would you do if you were directly involved?
Like the government of Malaysia, I would take this issue very seriously. I would try to find those drug-sellers, and inspect if they are spreading the HIV through needles or drugs. Then that would prevent injecting HIV into people, and it could decrease the spreading of HIV later on. Also, I would try and find a way to cure these people so that HIV would be gone once and for all.
